In Summer 2009 I participated in a poster competition CODE in Berlin, Germany, where I was living at the time. The task was to find the modern "code" of Berlin, which I did by comparing it to the ancient Babylon, the archetypal megacity and cradle of civilisation. My code was derived from Babylonian roll-on clay seals, their imagery and style. I even researched how to write "Berlin" in cuneiform.
My work was shortlisted, printed and pasted around the city, but won no awards. For comparison, I include a picture of the three winning entries.
